As he sleeps, the terrain becomes bumpy. He is too deeply asleep to notice the ceaseless bumping changing his position in the wagon. It’s like he’s scooting toward the edge of the floor. The jolts finally drive him to open his eyes, just in time for an extra large bump to approach. The first hit shocks him awake completely, and the 2nd knocks him out of the wagon. He lands hard and can only lift up his head, his body too weak, to watch as the wagon drives on without him in this new, unfamiliar territory.
